15-Year-Old Girl Killed in Oakland Crash; 16-Year-Old Arrested

UPDATE: In a tragic incident, a 15-year-old girl was killed in a car crash in East Oakland on Friday morning, prompting the arrest of a 16-year-old male for vehicular manslaughter and hit and run. The crash occurred around 9:40 a.m. near the intersection of 14th Avenue and East 31st Street, sending shockwaves through the community.

According to Oakland Police, the Toyota Corolla carrying five juveniles collided with another vehicle before the driver fled the scene. The driver of the struck vehicle pursued the Corolla while alerting authorities about the dangerous situation. The teenage suspect exited onto Interstate 580 and sped southbound, eventually crashing into a concrete wall after being struck by a third vehicle on 35th Avenue.

All occupants of the Corolla were rushed to nearby hospitals. Tragically, the 15-year-old girl, seated in the rear, was pronounced dead less than an hour later. The conditions of the other three girls involved remain unknown as of Sunday morning, raising concerns for their well-being.

Authorities confirmed that the suspect was hospitalized in serious condition but is now stable. He has been taken into custody, as police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this devastating crash.
