UPDATE: In a stunning development, Winter Park’s Ayden Pouncey has surged to the No. 1 position in the Sentinel’s 2026 Central Florida Super60 recruiting rankings. This achievement comes as Pouncey shines during his senior season, leading his team into the crucial playoff stretch.

Pouncey’s exceptional performance on the field has been nothing short of remarkable. The Notre Dame commit currently leads the Wildcats in receptions, return yardage, interceptions, and touchdowns. With a total of 15 touchdowns this season—including two on kick and punt returns—he has amassed impressive stats, including 1,018 total yards and 30 catches for 634 yards.

“I definitely feel like I deserve it, but I’m just blessed to be in this situation,” Pouncey stated, demonstrating his humility amidst the accolades. His standout defensive skills have also shone brightly, evidenced by his six interceptions, five of which he returned for touchdowns.

Winter Park, currently holding a record of 5-4, is poised to make a playoff run. The team is ranked No. 5 in Class 7A, Region 1 by the FHSAA. If the rankings hold, they will face Lake Mary (6-3) in the first round of the playoffs. Pouncey emphasized his commitment to helping his team succeed, saying, “I’m just trying to do what I can … and help get this playoff run going.”

Pouncey has been compared to his older brothers, both former football stars, and admits he is inspired by their success. His oldest brother, Jordan Pouncey, is a professional player in Germany, while another brother, Ethan, played at the University of Florida and Georgia Southern.

Meanwhile, the previous No. 1, Dereon Coleman of Jones High, remains a formidable player, leading his team to a 7-2 record. Coleman, committed to Miami, has thrown for 1,525 yards and 16 touchdowns this season. Despite Pouncey taking the top spot, Coleman’s consistent performance keeps him in the spotlight.

The top five rankings also feature Li’Darious Pryor, an uncommitted running back from Evans; Izayia Williams, an FSU commit from Tavares; and Larry Miles, a receiver headed to Nebraska from Jones.

As the playoffs approach, all eyes will be on Pouncey and the Wildcats to see if they can capitalize on their momentum and make a deep postseason run.

Stay tuned for more updates as this thrilling season unfolds!
