UPDATE: The Bay Area is experiencing a brief lull today, but weather experts warn that a new storm is on the horizon! Following an intense atmospheric river that dumped over 5 inches of rain in some areas, residents can expect more rain starting Sunday evening.

The National Weather Service confirmed that while Friday may see some sun, the region remains damp and is bracing for another round of precipitation this weekend. Weather forecaster Dalton Behringer stated, “It’s kind of looking mostly dry for Friday, but we will get back to a better chance for widespread rain on Saturday.”

The recent storm left a significant mark, particularly in the Santa Cruz Mountains, where Ben Lomond recorded 5.33 inches of rain. Meanwhile, parts of Sonoma County north of Santa Rosa experienced over 4.5 inches. In urban areas, downtown Oakland and San Francisco International Airport received about 1.5 inches.

As the remnants of the first storm linger, moisture from a southern system will combine with low pressure from the northwest, leading to stormy conditions expected to hit the Bay Area by Sunday night. “This rain will be quick-hitting,” Behringer added, emphasizing the unpredictable nature of the weather pattern.

Residents are advised to prepare for potential flooding and hazardous conditions as the region enters what weather officials describe as an “active” weather pattern. Another storm system is also likely to affect the area by Wednesday and Thursday of next week.

Stay tuned for updates as the situation develops, and be sure to share this vital information with your community. The Bay Area’s weather is changing rapidly, and being prepared is crucial.
