Boulder Opera Company Launches Engaging Season with Community Impact
UPDATE: Boulder Opera Company has just launched an exciting new season, captivating audiences with its mission to make opera accessible and engaging for everyone. Founded in 2012, this nonprofit organization is committed to breaking down barriers and inviting the community to experience the transformative power of live performance.
The season kicked off with the thrilling Opera in the Park at the Boulder Bandshell, showcasing highlights from some of opera’s most beloved works. This outdoor celebration brought together local talent and community spirit, setting the stage for a season filled with passion, comedy, and timeless music.
In November, families delighted in the charming humor of Donizetti’s The Elixir of Love, a production that resonated with audiences of all ages. Coming up in April, Boulder Opera will present Strauss’s acclaimed Der Rosenkavalier, a poignant exploration of love, time, and personal transformation that promises to leave a lasting impression.
Beyond the stage, Boulder Opera is making a profound impact within the community. Hundreds of residents, particularly from underserved Latino and Hispanic communities, have enjoyed free concerts, while thousands of students from Title I schools have been introduced to the art of opera through engaging educational programs. Their family-friendly productions not only entertain but also cultivate a new generation of opera lovers.
As a nonprofit organization relying heavily on donations, Boulder Opera is calling on community support to sustain its vibrant productions. This year, they aim to raise $12,000 in unrestricted funds, which will directly support artist pay, expand bilingual programming, and increase access for the 2026 season. Their message is clear: a little support can create a big impact.
For those interested in contributing to this cultural initiative, Boulder Opera invites you to participate in Colorado Gives Day. Donations can be made at coloradogives.org/organization/boulderopera.
