Brian M. Hayes, 68, Passes Away, Leaving Lasting Legacy in Berks County

UPDATE: Brian M. Hayes, aged 68, of Reiffton, has tragically passed away on December 1, 2025, at Reading Hospital. Known for his significant contributions to both the insurance industry and local baseball, Hayes leaves behind a legacy that has profoundly impacted the Berks County community.

Hayes was the devoted husband of Linda A. (Natale) Hayes, celebrating an impressive 46 years of marriage. Originally from Erie, PA, he was the son of the late Clarke H. and Ruth (Burns) Hayes. A graduate of Strong Vincent High School, Brian dedicated his professional life to his business, Brian M. Hayes & Associates Inc. Insurance & Investments, which he successfully ran for 46 years.

An avid golfer, Brian frequented local clubs such as Moselem Springs, Mulligan’s Pointe, and Mid South Country Clubs. He was also passionate about baseball, owning and operating the Exeter Cardinals Baseball Club from 1993 to 2020. His commitment to amateur baseball has left a lasting mark on the sport in Berks County and beyond.

In his professional endeavors, Brian served as a past president of The Reading Association of Life Underwriters and was a qualifying and life member of the Million Dollar Round Table. He was also a long-time board member of the city county baseball league, further demonstrating his dedication to community service.

Brian is survived by his cherished family, including his children: Brian M. Hayes II, Brent Hayes, and Brooke Majano, wife of Jose. He also leaves behind a beloved granddaughter, Avery, and his granddog, Mahomes. His brothers, James Hayes, and Bruce Hayes, along with many nieces and nephews, remember him fondly. He was preceded in death by his brother, Mark Hayes.

Visitation for family and friends is set for Monday, December 8, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Lutz Funeral Home, Inc., located at 2100 Perkiomen Avenue, Reading, PA 19606. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Ronald McDonald House or the American Heart Association, both of which align with Brian’s values of compassion and community support.
