UPDATE: The Los Angeles Dodgers have pulled off a stunning victory, defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 3-1 in Game 6 of the World Series, forcing a decisive Game 7 set for Saturday night at the Rogers Centre. The tension peaked in the bottom of the ninth as the Dodgers executed a dramatic double play to secure their place in the series.

The crowd at the Rogers Centre roared throughout the game, but a moment of silence in the bottom of the ninth allowed Dodgers’ left fielder Enrique Hernandez to make a game-saving play. “Game 7. Amazing,” Hernandez exclaimed after the game. “This is what we dream of, ever since we were little kids.”

With the Blue Jays threatening to tie the game, Toronto shortstop Andres Gimenez hit a line drive that appeared destined to bring home the tying run. Instead, Hernandez sprinted to make a spectacular catch, igniting a chaotic sequence that ended with a double play, eliminating Addison Barger at second base.

“Dude, I didn’t have enough time to think about it,” said Dodgers pitcher Tyler Glasnow, who was called from the bullpen for the critical moment. “I just thought, ‘Please don’t be a hit. Sweet. It’s not a hit. Nice.'”

The game turned on a pivotal third inning where all four runs were scored. The Dodgers surged ahead with a three-run rally, highlighted by a crucial two-run single from struggling shortstop Mookie Betts. The Blue Jays answered with a run from George Springer, but their hopes slipped away as the game progressed.

The ninth inning ignited chaos when Blue Jays’ Barger hit a drive that wedged itself beneath the padding in left field. The crowd erupted, believing they had tied the game with an inside-the-park home run. “I haven’t seen a ball get lodged, ever. Just caught a tough break there,” reflected Blue Jays manager John Schneider.

However, the umpires ruled it a ground-rule double, sending Barger back to second base. The tension escalated as the Dodgers brought in Glasnow, who quickly closed out the inning and sealed the victory.

This game marks a historic moment, as the Dodgers became the eighth team in World Series history to execute a game-ending double play while facing elimination and the first since the 1972 Cincinnati Reds.

“Baseball deserves a Game 7,” Hernandez added. “This has been a great, great World Series. The fact that we’re getting a Game 7 is well deserved. Both teams have played their butts off.”

As fans eagerly await Game 7, the stakes couldn’t be higher. Tune in as the Dodgers and Blue Jays battle for the championship in what promises to be an electrifying conclusion to the series.
