DoorDash Waives Fees for SNAP Recipients Amid Shutdown Crisis

URGENT UPDATE: DoorDash has just announced a significant initiative to support SNAP recipients during the ongoing federal government shutdown. The company will waive delivery and service fees on grocery orders for verified SNAP users as part of its nationwide emergency food response.

As the shutdown threatens vital food assistance for over 40 million Americans, DoorDash is stepping in to deliver the equivalent of 1 million free meals through its food bank partners. This is crucial as food banks across the nation prepare for an overwhelming surge in demand.

Throughout November 2025, DoorDash’s Project DASH will facilitate fee-free deliveries for more than 300 food banks, food pantries, and charity organizations. However, recipients will not place orders directly through the app; food bank partners will coordinate deliveries with DoorDash drivers.

Additionally, DoorDash is enabling customers who have linked their SNAP/EBT cards to their accounts to shop at participating grocery partners such as Sprouts, Dollar General, Schnucks, Ahold Delhaize brands, Hy-Vee, Giant Eagle, and Wegmans. This initiative runs from November 1 to November 30, 2025, allowing SNAP users to access groceries without incurring delivery fees.

To benefit from this program, customers must already have their SNAP cards linked to their DoorDash profile. If the EBT card runs low, any other payment method will still be accepted for grocery orders.

This immediate support is critical as food banks brace for increased strain. With SNAP benefits dwindling, the demand for food assistance has never been greater. DoorDash’s proactive measures aim to alleviate some of the burdens faced by families relying on these essential services.

For those looking for food assistance, further details about local food banks and how to access these services can be found on DoorDash’s website.

As this situation develops, stay tuned for updates on how food assistance programs are responding to the ongoing crisis.
