Dane Coppini will perform a spectacular flyover with four jets during the highly anticipated Kansas City Chiefs vs. Indianapolis Colts NFL game this Sunday, October 8, 2023, at 10 a.m. in Kansas City. This honor is part of the NFL’s Military Appreciation Month celebrations.

Coppini, a seasoned pilot with over 15 years of experience, is currently assigned to the 87th Flying Training Squadron, known as the “Red Bulls,” at Laughlin Air Force Base in Del Rio, Texas. As part of the flyover, he will be piloting a T-38C Talon, the U.S. Air Force’s primary training jet, alongside three other pilots. This event marks a significant accomplishment for Coppini, who has been eagerly awaiting his turn to participate in a flyover since joining the squadron about a year ago.

Coppini’s military career began 19 years ago when he enlisted as an Air Force security forces member. His journey to becoming a pilot took off after a deployment to Afghanistan, where he decided to pursue his dream of flying. Since then, he has completed 10 deployments, including missions in Iraq and Africa, showcasing his dedication to serving his country.

Reflecting on his roots, Coppini expressed deep gratitude for the support he has received from his family and friends in Ferndale. “I appreciate the community I grew up in; it has shaped who I am today,” he stated. His mother, Carrie Coppini, shared her pride in her son’s accomplishments, saying, “We’re super proud of him; he’s a high flier!”

As the game approaches, excitement is building among family and friends back home. They are making plans to watch the live flyover, a moment that will undoubtedly resonate with the community that raised him. “He loves Ferndale and is proud to be from here,” Carrie added.

This flyover is not only a personal milestone for Lt. Col. Coppini but also a tribute to the sacrifices made by military personnel. As he prepares for the event, Coppini acknowledges the significance of his role as an instructor pilot, training the next generation of Air Force aviators.
