UPDATE: The highly anticipated holiday event at the Gaylord Palms Resort in Kissimmee, Florida, is officially underway! Artisans from Harbin, China, are hard at work crafting stunning ice sculptures for the annual “Ice!” event, featuring over 11 colorful scenes from the beloved classic, Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.

This year’s event marks the first time “Rudolph” has been featured at the Gaylord Palms, with a complete redesign aimed at providing guests an immersive experience. Senior Director of Special Events and Experiences, Niko Nickolaou, emphasized the transformation, stating, “We really invested in taking the design, elevating it to something completely different.”

The media preview on October 17, 2025, showcased artisans using chainsaws and scrapers to shape the ice blocks, with the event expected to take a total of 33 days to complete. As of now, over 1,000 tons of ice are being sculpted, with additional shipments arriving regularly.

Visitors can expect interactive displays, including a photo opportunity featuring icy renditions of Rudolph and Hermey, the elf who dreams of being a dentist. The walk-through experience begins with a scene depicting the “storm of the century” from the classic 1964 special, along with scenes illustrating “reindeer games” and the Island of Misfit Toys.

The ice sculptures will be housed in a frigid environment set at just 9 degrees Fahrenheit, ensuring the intricate designs remain intact throughout the event’s duration. Nickolaou noted that the slide room, a fan favorite, will feature a large sculpture of Bumble, the abominable snow monster, encouraging guests to take memorable photos.

In addition to the Ice! event, Gaylord Palms will also debut a Jack Frost-themed “chocolate activation” and a new Cirque show titled “Pomp, Snow and Cirqueumstance,” inspired by a Broadway production.

The holiday festivities at Gaylord Palms will kick off on November 14 and run through January 4, offering a winter wonderland experience for both locals and tourists. Visitors are advised to dress warmly, with parkas available, though many opt for additional layers, hats, gloves, and hand warmers to fully enjoy the icy experience.
