High School Volleyball Championships Heat Up: Scores from Oct. 16

BREAKING: High school volleyball tournaments are escalating with thrilling championship matches across Orlando. On October 16, 2023, teams battled fiercely in the FHSAA district playoffs, showcasing remarkable talent and determination.

The highlight of the day came from DeLand High School, which dominated Ocala Forest in a decisive 3-0 victory. The Bulldogs displayed exceptional teamwork, with standout performances from Emerson Lalashuis, who notched 12 kills and 3 digs. This win propelled DeLand into the district finals, solidifying their status as a team to watch.

In another thrilling matchup, Winter Park defeated Hagerty with a commanding score of 3-0. The Wildcats’ Paige Lehman was instrumental with 22 assists and 6 digs. Winter Park continues to impress with a remarkable season record of 26-1.

Over in 7A District 5, West Orange faced off against East Ridge, winning a nail-biter at 3-2. The match showcased resilience, with both teams trading sets before West Orange clinched the victory.

As championship matches unfold across various districts, fans are eagerly anticipating the results. Upcoming fixtures include Lake Brantley versus Lake Mary and Orlando Christian Prep against City of Life Christian.

In golf, high school athletes also brought their A-game. Lake Howell edged out Orangewood Christian with a score of 156 to 158, bolstered by Robert Madden‘s impressive score of 35. Meanwhile, St. Cloud triumphed over Harmony with a remarkable performance, led by Ayden Febres, who shot an 8-under-par 64.
