Jen Psaki Unleashes Fact-Checks on Trump’s Latest Claims
URGENT UPDATE: Jen Psaki delivered a scathing fact-check of former President Donald Trump’s late-night address, revealing numerous inaccuracies regarding his proposed $1,776 “warrior dividends” aimed at addressing the affordability crisis. The analysis, aired on MS NOW, has ignited discussions as the political landscape heats up.
During her segment on Wednesday evening, Psaki, a former White House press secretary, did not hold back. “I just want to quickly fact-check just a few — I mean, there were so many in there,” she stated, emphasizing the need for clarity amid Trump’s claims. Psaki pointed out that the proposal for $1,776 checks for U.S. troops is misleading, as Congress ultimately controls the power of the purse, not the president. “If that happens, that is Congress sending those checks, even if Trump puts his name on them,” she asserted.
Psaki also highlighted the significance of the number $1,776, noting that analysis from the Yale Budget Lab estimates that Trump’s tariffs have cost American households an average of $1,700 this year alone. This revelation underscores the financial pressures many families are currently facing.
Furthermore, Psaki challenged Trump’s assertion that he inherited the worst inflation rate in 48 years. “That’s not true,” she stated. “Inflation had been declining from its pandemic peak of 7 percent. Since Trump took office, it has flatlined at 3 percent.” She referenced recent comments from Jerome Powell, Chair of the Federal Reserve, who indicated that inflation remains elevated, contradicting Trump’s claims.
Trump also boasted about working to lower grocery prices, a claim Psaki quickly dismantled. “Trump’s own Agriculture Department released a report showing that food prices are rising faster than inflation,” she remarked, capturing the inconvenient truth many Americans experience at the grocery store.
In a further blow to Trump’s narrative, Psaki disputed his claim that he has successfully reduced gas prices to $1.99 a gallon. Data from the American Automobile Association (AAA) indicates that the national average was $3.11 when Trump took office, and it currently stands at $2.91.
“That is just a little taste and flavor, and I’m sure you all have your own lists at home,” Psaki concluded, inviting viewers to engage in the fact-checking process themselves. As the political discourse intensifies, Psaki’s remarks serve as a critical reminder of the importance of verifying claims made by public officials.
As the situation develops, viewers are encouraged to stay informed and vigilant about the information disseminated by public figures. The impact of these claims stretches beyond politics, affecting everyday Americans grappling with rising costs and economic uncertainty.
Expect further updates as this story unfolds and more fact-checks emerge. The conversation around Trump’s address is likely to shape public opinion and policy discussions in the days ahead.
