Major PC Makers Warn of Urgent Price Hikes Ahead of Black Friday
UPDATE: Two leading PC manufacturers, Maingear and CyberPowerPC, have issued urgent warnings about impending price hikes for new computers, urging consumers to act fast ahead of Black Friday. Wallace Santos, CEO of Maingear, emphasizes that RAM prices will continue to rise, making this holiday season potentially the last chance to snag a deal.
Beginning December 7, 2025, CyberPowerPC will increase the prices of its gaming PCs due to skyrocketing memory costs. The company reports that RAM prices have surged by 500% and SSD prices have doubled, significantly impacting the affordability of new systems. This trend has been building since early October, and consumers are feeling the pinch as they consider upgrades or new purchases.
“We’ve already seen DRAM prices skyrocket due to the shortages, and we are holding off those price changes for our customers as long as we can,” Santos stated in a recent interview. He advises consumers to buy now, highlighting that the current stock of PCs remains unaffected by these upcoming price hikes.
CyberPowerPC further confirms that the price of a typical gaming rig will increase by approximately 80 USD for systems with 16GB of RAM and 1TB SSDs, and 160 USD for setups equipped with 32GB of RAM and 2TB SSDs. As of now, the prices reflect the situation before December, making Black Friday sales critical for potential savings.
Consumers looking to upgrade their PCs or purchase new gaming machines should act quickly. With predictions indicating that memory shortages could extend into 2027, the urgency to buy has never been more pressing. Santos warns, “I anticipate that prices will continue to rise and then we will eventually have to increase our lead times as stock and allocation becomes constrained.”
While CyberPowerPC describes the price increases as “temporary,” the industry consensus suggests that 2026 could witness a continued crisis in memory pricing. This means that any delays in purchasing could result in higher costs in the near future.
For consumers eyeing Black Friday deals, now is the time to act. “The PCs we’re selling now were sheltered from the price hikes, as the components were bought a while back,” Santos noted. However, this situation is expected to change rapidly. If you are considering a purchase, it’s advisable to take advantage of Black Friday discounts while still available.
In addition to PCs, consider purchasing SSDs or graphics cards, which may also see price increases due to the memory crisis. With the market shifting so rapidly, savvy shoppers can still find value this holiday season.
