Max Scherzer Set to Ignite ALCS Game 4 for Blue Jays Tonight

UPDATE: The Toronto Blue Jays are gearing up for a critical showdown as Max Scherzer takes the mound for Game 4 of the AL Championship Series against the Seattle Mariners tonight. With the Blue Jays facing elimination after dropping the first two games at home, Scherzer is eager to deliver in this high-stakes moment.
“I love it. This is what you play for,” Scherzer declared, expressing his excitement about pitching in the postseason. The three-time Cy Young Award winner is making his 26th postseason start and 31st appearance tonight, a crucial moment for both him and the team.
Following his last regular-season appearance on September 24 against the Boston Red Sox, Scherzer has not pitched in a game for over a month. “I expect Max to be Max,” said teammate Chris Bassitt, who is also on the Blue Jays’ roster after missing the Division Series. Bassitt contributed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in a relief role during a recent loss to the Mariners.
Despite recent struggles—Scherzer has an 0-3 record over his last eight postseason starts since the 2019 World Series—he remains determined. He wrapped up the 2025 season with a 5-5 record and a 5.19 ERA across 17 starts. Scherzer acknowledged that injuries impacted his performance early in the season, stating, “I don’t want to sit here and go backwards and blame injuries for any way I pitched.”
Manager John Schneider previously noted that neck pain hindered Scherzer’s final games of the season. “When I take the mound, I have the attitude that I’m going to win no matter what,” he affirmed, showing his relentless competitive spirit as the Blue Jays aim to bounce back from their recent setbacks.
With the series now shifting to Seattle, the Blue Jays must win at least two of the next three games to keep their championship hopes alive. “We’re a great team,” Scherzer insisted. “We’ve had so many comeback wins and played great ball this year. Yes, we lost two games. These are must-win games, and we all understand what’s at stake.”
As the clock ticks down to game time, fans and analysts alike are eager to see if Scherzer can rise to the occasion and reclaim his status as a postseason powerhouse. Follow this developing story as the Blue Jays fight to stay alive in the ALCS!
