Ruth E. Gerardi, 100, Passes Away; Community Mourns Loss Today

UPDATE: The community of Galway is mourning the passing of Ruth E. Gerardi, who died on November 9, 2025, at the age of 100. Born on December 2, 1924, in Green Island, New York, Gerardi was a beloved figure known for her lifelong commitment to community service and her deep faith.

Gerardi dedicated many years to Trustco Bank in Schenectady before becoming integral to the Galway United Methodist Church in 1948. She served as an officer and choir member, orchestrating numerous fundraisers that positively impacted the church and its outreach efforts.

As a charter member of the Galway Lioness and an active participant in the Galway Women’s Club, Gerardi’s influence extended beyond her church. She also held a leadership position on the Saratoga County Aging Advisory Council, advocating for senior citizens throughout the region.

Known for her love of knitting and traveling with family, Ruth is survived by her daughter Sharyn Kalinkewicz (Gary), and Goddaughter Pam Neahr (Dave), along with numerous nieces, nephews, and friends who cherished her.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 12, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Armer Funeral Home, Inc., located at 39 East High Street, Ballston Spa. A funeral service is set for 10 a.m. Thursday, November 13, at the Galway United Methodist Church, with burial to follow in the Galway Village Cemetery.
