Stefon Diggs Sues Influencer for Defamation Over Shocking Claims
UPDATE: NFL star Stefon Diggs is taking legal action against social media influencer Christopher Blake Griffith for defamation, following a series of shocking allegations that Diggs vehemently denies. The lawsuit, filed on October 1, 2023, alleges that Griffith made false claims about drugging and sexually assaulting him, as well as conspiring to kill him to hide alleged secrets.
This explosive case centers around an incident that reportedly took place at Diggs’ home in Rockville, Maryland, after a charity basketball game in Washington, D.C., in May 2023. Diggs asserts that the evening was uneventful, with him going to his bedroom while his assistant asked Griffith to leave. However, over two years later, Griffith publicly accused Diggs of serious misconduct, claiming he was drugged and assaulted.
Griffith’s allegations have gained traction online, with posts reaching tens of thousands of followers and tagging major brands, including the New England Patriots and Uggs, for whom Diggs has a sponsorship deal. Diggs contends that these accusations are purely fabricated for online clout, severely damaging his reputation in the process.
In response to the lawsuit, Griffith’s attorney, Jake Lebowitz, stated, “
Mr. Griffith is looking forward to showing the world in Court that regardless of the fairy tale fabricated by Mr. Diggs’ high-priced New York Lawyers, he is the victim of Mr. Diggs’ unwanted sexual advances and his brother’s violent attacks.
”
Diggs is seeking unspecified damages and attorney’s fees, indicating that the amount could be substantial. Legal experts suggest that defamation cases can lead to awards in the hundreds of thousands or even millions of dollars, depending on the severity of the allegations and their impact.
This unfolding legal battle highlights the growing tensions between public figures and social media influencers, raising questions about accountability and the consequences of false allegations. As the case progresses, both Diggs and Griffith will likely face intense scrutiny, making this a story to watch closely.
Stay tuned for updates on this developing situation, as the implications for both parties could be significant in the court of public opinion and beyond.
