Trump Warns of ‘Dark Forces’ Targeting Tariff Policy, Threatens Mexico
UPDATE: Donald Trump has issued a stark warning about “dark and sinister forces” threatening his economic policies, specifically targeting tariffs, in a series of urgent posts to Truth Social earlier today, November 9. His comments come as European nations consider their own tariff strategies against China, which he argues could undermine U.S. national security.
In his first post, Trump emphasized the potential impact of a negative Supreme Court decision regarding tariffs, stating, “The biggest threat in history to United States National Security would be a negative decision on Tariffs by the U.S. Supreme Court.” He cautioned that without robust tariffs, the U.S. could become “financially defenseless” compared to other nations employing similar measures.
Trump’s second post reiterated his claim that his policies have fostered the “strongest economy” globally, saying, “Because of Tariffs, easily and quickly applied, our National Security has been greatly enhanced.” He warned that only “dark and sinister forces” would want to see these protections dismantled.
These remarks were made as Trump also targeted Mexico over what he described as a “violation” of the U.S.-Mexico Water Treaty. He highlighted that Mexico owes the U.S. over 800,000 acre-feet of water due to non-compliance over the past five years, directly affecting agriculture in Texas. He stated, “Mexico continues to violate our comprehensive Water Treaty, and this violation is seriously hurting our BEAUTIFUL TEXAS CROPS AND LIVESTOCK.”
Urgently, Trump demanded that Mexico release 200,000 acre-feet of water by December 31st, threatening a 5% tariff on Mexican goods if compliance is not met. He expressed frustration, claiming, “The longer Mexico takes to release the water, the more our Farmers are hurt.”
While Trump asserts the U.S. economy is thriving, experts warn of impending price increases in 2026. Joseph Feldman of Telsey Advisory Group commented, “In the first half of next year, we are concerned that consumers are going to start to see the price increases become a little more broad-based.”
This situation highlights the immediate stakes involved in Trump’s tariff policies and international negotiations, raising questions about the potential economic fallout for American farmers and consumers alike. As developments unfold, all eyes will be on Mexico’s response and the Supreme Court’s decisions regarding tariffs.
