United Airlines Jet Hits Midair Incident, Captain Injured
URGENT UPDATE: A United Airlines Boeing 737 Max suffered a serious midair incident, causing the aircraft’s windshield to crack at 36,000 feet and injuring the captain. This shocking event unfolded during Flight 1093, which took off from Denver en route to Los Angeles on October 17, 2025.
Just 37 minutes after takeoff, while flying near Moab, Utah, the aircraft began an unexpected descent, according to flight data from Flightradar24. The situation escalated when the plane diverted to Salt Lake City after 10 minutes of erratic flying. Eyewitness reports indicate that the cockpit was filled with glass debris, and shocking images reveal the captain with a bloodied forearm.
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has confirmed it is investigating the incident. In a post on social media, the NTSB stated it is collecting crucial radar, weather, and flight recorder data. The damaged windscreen is being sent for analysis at the agency’s labs.
Preliminary reports suggest the aircraft may have been struck by space debris or a small meteorite, as indicated by scorch marks found on the plane. Aviation expert JonNYC was among the first to report these details, sharing images that show the severity of the damage.
In a statement to Business Insider, United Airlines acknowledged the incident, confirming that the aircraft landed safely in Salt Lake City. Passengers were transferred to another plane, which landed in Los Angeles at 1:12 PM PT, approximately five and a half hours behind schedule.
While the original plane has since been rerouted to Chicago Rockford Airport, United’s maintenance team is actively working to return the aircraft to service.
As investigations continue, officials stress the importance of safety protocols in aviation. The NTSB’s findings will be pivotal in understanding how such an unusual event could occur at cruising altitude.
Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops. The implications of this incident could have lasting effects on aviation safety and policies regarding midair encounters with unexpected objects.
