Urgent: Woman Arrested After Crashing Vehicle to Evade Police

URGENT UPDATE: A woman has been arrested after crashing her vehicle while attempting to evade police on Interstate 35 North in Live Oak. The incident unfolded at approximately 8:25 PM on Thursday, October 19, 2023, as police confirmed the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed and driving recklessly.

According to officials, a Live Oak officer initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle, but the driver initially slowed down before accelerating away. Live Oak dispatch quickly alerted the San Antonio Police Department, and the pursuing officer disengaged as the vehicle took the O’Connor Road exit.

Upon following the exit, the officer discovered the vehicle had crashed and rolled over. The woman managed to extricate herself from the wreckage. However, authorities noted a strong smell of alcohol on her breath. She was transported to a local hospital and has since been released.

Following the crash, she was arrested on charges of evading arrest in a motor vehicle. Meanwhile, her male passenger had to be extracted from the vehicle and is currently in critical condition at the hospital.

The Live Oak Police Department has stated that the investigation is ongoing, and additional charges may be forthcoming. This incident highlights the dangers of reckless driving and the serious consequences it can have on everyone involved.
