BREAKING: The viewing and funeral for fallen Philadelphia Highway Patrol Officer Andy Chan are scheduled for next week, following his tragic death last week. Chan succumbed to injuries sustained nearly seven years ago when a driver struck his motorcycle in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia. This is a time for the community to come together and honor his legacy.

The first viewing will take place on Monday, December 15, 2023, at the Holy Redeemer Chinese Catholic Church from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Another viewing is set for Tuesday, December 16, 2023, from 8:15 a.m. to 10:40 a.m. at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul. The funeral service will follow at 12 p.m., offering a final opportunity for friends, family, and colleagues to pay their respects.

Chan, a decorated officer recognized for his bravery, received a commendation in 2011 for his service. His dedication to duty and the sacrifices he made for public safety will not be forgotten.

In a poignant gesture, a yearly fundraiser initially planned for Chan’s ongoing care will now serve as a memorial this Friday, aiming to honor his memory and support his family. The goal is set at $25,000, reflecting the community’s commitment to supporting those who serve and protect.

This is an urgent reminder of the risks faced by law enforcement and the impact of such tragedies on families and communities. As arrangements are being finalized, the public is encouraged to participate in honoring Officer Chan’s legacy and contributing to the memorial fundraiser.

Stay tuned for further updates as the community rallies together to celebrate the life of Officer Andy Chan.
