Stuart Martin Exits ‘Miss Scarlet’ Ahead of Season Six Premiere
The popular series, **Miss Scarlet and The Duke**, known for its engaging storytelling and strong character development, is set to return for its sixth season tonight on **PBS Masterpiece**. However, the show will experience a significant casting change as **Stuart Martin**, who has played the beloved character William “The Duke” Wellington for four seasons, will not be returning.
In a heartfelt statement, Martin expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to portray The Duke. He remarked, “It has been such an incredible joy to bring Duke to life through [series creator] **Rachael New**’s beautiful, brilliant writing, and to get to play him for the past four years.” He indicated that the decision to leave was made with careful consideration, noting that it was time for Eliza Scarlet, portrayed by **Kate Phillips**, to face new challenges and stories as the show evolves.
Martin continued, “I will miss working with my amazing partner in crime Kate and the rest of our brilliant family and team, but I’m excited to continue following Eliza and her escapades as a huge fan and newly enrolled Scarleteer!” His departure marks the end of an era for the series, which has captured the hearts of its audience with its unique blend of mystery and romance.
Kate Phillips also shared her sentiments about the change, stating, “I will miss working with my pal Stu every day, and know Eliza will miss her Duke, but I think the best is yet to come for her.” She expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming season, hinting at exciting developments for Eliza and the storyline.
The show, which has garnered a loyal fan base since its inception, will move forward without the character of The Duke, leaving many viewers eager to see how Eliza’s journey will unfold in his absence. The premiere of season six not only promises fresh narratives but also a chance for existing characters to grow in new directions.
As fans prepare for the sixth season, the announcement of Martin’s exit has sparked discussions about the future of the show and the potential for new characters to fill the void left by The Duke. With a dedicated audience anticipating the latest adventures of Eliza Scarlet, the series is poised to continue its legacy of captivating storytelling.
Fans can tune in to **PBS Masterpiece** tonight to witness the debut of the new season and explore the evolving landscape of **Miss Scarlet**.
