Sigma Computing Selected to Modernize Common Data Platform
The Common Data Platform (CDP) initiative has taken a significant step forward with the selection of Sigma Computing as the new enterprise reporting application. This decision is part of an effort to modernize campus data and reporting infrastructure. The transition comes as InfoView, the current reporting tool, approaches its end of life in December 2027.
During the transition period, which will last until December 2027, both InfoView and Sigma Computing will operate concurrently. This dual operation aims to facilitate a smooth transition, minimizing disruptions for users across the campus. The Data Management team has outlined a plan to reduce additional services from the legacy data warehouse while maintaining essential support for parallel operations.
In preparation for the shift, the Data Management team will implement a freeze on changes and enhancements to InfoView resources. Maintenance of InfoView and the legacy data warehouse will continue, but only critical support for issues will be addressed. Users can still submit requests for InfoView accounts, but enhancements or new service requests will not be accepted during this transition phase.
With the pilot phase set to conclude this fall, the team will finalize the implementation plan for Sigma Computing. More detailed information regarding the implementation timeline, strategy, and user training will be shared in January for InfoView users. For those not currently using InfoView, updates and further communication will be available on the CDP webpage.
The focus of this initiative is to create a more efficient and modern reporting system that meets the evolving needs of the campus community. According to the Data Management team, this transition is essential for keeping up with technological advancements and ensuring reliable data access for all stakeholders.
