Sheridan Council Greenlights $353,000 Gillispie Draw Study
The Sheridan City Council has approved a significant feasibility study valued at $353,000 to assess the potential construction of the West Corridor through Gillispie Draw. This decision was made during a recent council meeting where the Public Works Director, Hanns Mercer, recommended the proposal from Morrison-Maierle, one of four firms that submitted bids for the project.
Details of the Proposal
The feasibility study aims to determine whether the construction of the West Corridor is viable from both a logistical and financial standpoint. Morrison-Maierle’s proposal was notably higher than its competitors, exceeding the next closest bid by at least $75,000. The other firms submitted proposals that were significantly lower, raising questions among council members regarding the cost-effectiveness of the chosen option.
City officials highlighted that this study is crucial for understanding the implications of the West Corridor’s construction. It will provide a comprehensive analysis of the project’s feasibility, including construction costs, environmental impacts, and potential benefits to the community.
Implications for Sheridan
The decision to move forward with this study reflects the city council’s commitment to improving infrastructure within Sheridan while ensuring financial prudence. As urban development continues to be a priority, the findings from the feasibility study will play a pivotal role in shaping future decisions regarding transportation and connectivity in the area.
Following the study’s completion, council members will review the data to make informed decisions on whether to proceed with the construction plans. The outcome could significantly influence the city’s development strategy and its ability to enhance local infrastructure.
As the city gears up for this next phase, residents and stakeholders await the results, which are expected to provide clarity on the project’s potential impact on Sheridan’s growth and accessibility.
