Acadiana High School Football Leaders Shine Through Week 9
As the high school football season progresses, the Acadiana area is witnessing remarkable performances from its athletes. Through Week 9, key players have emerged as leaders in rushing, passing, and receiving statistics, showcasing their talents on the field.
Rushing Leaders Make Impact
Leading the rushing statistics is Jaden Celestine from Comeaux, who has amassed an impressive total of 1,567 yards on 178 carries, scoring 24 touchdowns. Close behind is Joachim Bourgeois of Notre Dame, recording 1,262 yards from 160 carries and 14 touchdowns. Other notable rushers include Caiden Bellard of Lafayette Christian, with 1,109 yards and 13 touchdowns, and Owen Morris from Catholic-NI, who has rushed for 1,105 yards and achieved 17 touchdowns.
Additional impressive performances come from De’Maurion Cormier of Kaplan, who has gained 1,055 yards with 15 touchdowns, and Hugo Morales from Delcambre, who has recorded 1,040 yards and 8 touchdowns.
Passing Leaders Excel in Yardage
The passing game has also seen standout athletes. Carson Gurzi of Carencro leads with 2,481 yards on 129 completions from 219 attempts, along with 27 touchdowns. Following him closely is Kross Gillen from Opelousas Catholic, who has thrown for 2,141 yards with 30 touchdowns on 124 completions out of 223 attempts.
Other key players include Cole Bergeron of STM, who has passed for 2,131 yards and 23 touchdowns, and Kennan Brown from Lafayette Renaissance, who has accumulated 1,947 yards and 28 touchdowns.
In addition, Alex Munoz of Teurlings has achieved 1,652 yards with 19 touchdowns, while Nathan Zaunbrecher from St. Edmund has thrown for 1,650 yards and 16 touchdowns.
Receiving Leaders Shine Bright
On the receiving end, Chantz Babineaux from Carencro leads with 1,160 yards and 13 touchdowns from 46 receptions. He is followed by Jarrison Reese of Church Point, who has recorded 977 yards and 10 touchdowns on 55 catches.
Other notable receivers include Christian Breaux from St. Thomas More with 804 yards and 12 touchdowns, and Cameron Samuels of Abbeville, who has achieved 798 yards and 10 touchdowns.
As the season continues, these athletes are demonstrating their skills and determination, contributing to an exciting football landscape in Acadiana. With only a few weeks left in the regular season, fans are eagerly anticipating how these leaders will continue to perform on the field.
