Remembering Tricia Marcello: A Life of Laughter and Love

Tricia Marcello, a beloved figure known for her warmth and humor, passed away on October 20, 2023, at the age of 79 in Manhattan Beach, California. Born as Tricia Taw on September 13, 1946, in Los Angeles, she was the middle child of Richard and Mary Taw and grew up in Inglewood and Culver City.

Tricia’s early career began at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), where she worked as a ticket agent for American Airlines. This role sharpened her skills in problem-solving and deepened her innate ability to connect with people. Her career later expanded into television production, where she contributed to a variety of projects, including movies of the week and live shows such as Circus of the Stars.

A Life Rich in Family and Community

In 1984, Tricia married John Marcello, forming a partnership that would flourish for over 41 years. Together, they created a nurturing environment for their daughter, Molly, who brought new experiences and joys into their lives. Tricia became actively involved in local public school education, serving as the president of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) and volunteering with community organizations like Sandpipers.

Known for her hospitality, Tricia opened her home to family and friends, often hosting gatherings filled with homemade meals and laughter. A friend affectionately described her as the “innkeeper of the Marcello B&B,” highlighting her generous spirit and ability to create a welcoming atmosphere.

Tricia’s unique style conveyed her creative personality, blending elements of bohemian, vintage, and steampunk aesthetics. She had a passion for the arts, particularly music, and was rarely seen without a book in hand.

Courage in Adversity

Over the past decade, Tricia faced numerous health challenges, including surgeries related to rheumatoid arthritis and genetic heart issues. Despite these difficulties, she approached each situation with a positive attitude, drawing strength from her Catholic faith and her trust in her medical team. Her resilience and wit shone through even in tough times, often lightening the mood with her insightful humor.

Tricia’s passing leaves a profound void in the lives of those who knew her. A funeral mass will be held at American Martyrs Catholic Church on November 10, 2023, at 10:00 AM, followed by a reception at O’Donnell Hall. Her legacy of kindness, creativity, and unwavering support will be cherished by family, friends, and the wider community.
