Brandi Carlile is confirmed to host this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live (SNL), taking over from actor Miles Teller. The announcement follows the release of promotional clips featuring Teller and SNL cast member Ashley Padilla, who humorously confronts Teller about his failure to notice her new haircut.

In the promotional video, Padilla expresses frustration at Teller, saying, “I got a haircut, and you haven’t said anything about it!” Teller, seemingly caught off guard, responds, “Yeah, sorry, I think I didn’t notice, Ashley, because we’ve never met before.” This exchange sets the stage for Carlile’s entrance, as she acknowledges Padilla’s new look, stating, “I noticed. The second I saw you, I knew you had that new-haircut glow.”

Padilla cheekily declares, “Thank you, Brandi Carlile! You’re the host now,” prompting Carlile to celebrate with an enthusiastic “Yesssss.” Teller, confused, asks if she is joking, but Padilla assures him she is serious. In a light-hearted moment, she quips, “I hope you can sing,” to which Teller shrugs and replies, “I can sing.” His singing abilities have previously been showcased, notably during a 2016 concert in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where country star Keith Urban invited him onstage for a duet of “My Girl.”

Carlile’s Musical Return to SNL

This upcoming episode will mark Carlile’s fourth appearance as a musical guest on SNL and her second this year. She previously performed alongside Elton John in April, promoting their collaborative album, Who Believes in Angels? This time, she will highlight her newly released solo album, Returning to Myself, during her performance.

Teller, on the other hand, is returning as a host for his second time, having made his debut in 2022. He is set to appear on the show ahead of the release of his upcoming sci-fi romantic comedy, Eternity, which co-stars Elizabeth Olsen and Callum Turner. The film is scheduled to premiere in theaters on November 26, 2023.
