Enjoy a Magical Evening with Peter White and Friends this Holiday
The festive spirit ignites with the upcoming concert, A Peter White Christmas, featuring renowned guitarist Peter White, celebrated saxophonist Mindi Abair, and talented multi-instrumentalist Vincent Ingala. The event takes place on December 2, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. at the Miller Center for the Arts in Reading, Pennsylvania. This annual concert, part of the Boscov’s Berks Jazz Fest and presented by Berks Arts, promises a delightful evening for contemporary jazz enthusiasts.
White, who has been a significant part of the holiday concert series for years, expressed his enthusiasm for returning to Reading. “Reading has been a major part of the annual holiday tour,” he noted. “I always look forward to coming to Reading and sharing the spirit of Christmas through music with our many Berks Jazz Fest fans.”
Musical Memories and Holiday Traditions
Known for his exceptional acoustic guitar skills, White’s love for Christmas music began in his childhood. He recalls, “My earliest memories of Christmas were probably not much different from many other people. Snowflakes, tinsel, Santa Claus, reindeer, and the opening of presents surrounded by family.” He fondly remembers learning to play Christmas songs on the recorder, instilling a lifelong passion for holiday music. “I hope this tour will be an opportunity for many smooth jazz fans to enjoy their favorite Christmas songs in a family setting,” he added.
Joining White is Mindi Abair, known for her vibrant stage presence and dynamic performances. Reflecting on her own holiday experiences, she shared, “Growing up, my family would get together for Christmas every year. My grandmother would cook oyster stuffing and rhubarb pie, and we’d all play and sing together.” Abair emphasizes the importance of music in her family traditions, attributing her musical upbringing to her grandmother, an opera singer. “My grandmother gave me great advice early on, ‘If you play the piano, you can be the life of any party!’”
Captivating Performances Await
Rounding out the lineup is Vincent Ingala, known for his engaging performances and mastery of the tenor saxophone. Ingala recalls the magic of Christmas Eve, saying, “I can vividly remember not being able to fall asleep waiting for Santa Claus to arrive.” He reminisces about the excitement of discovering gifts arranged around the fireplace, enhancing the enchanting holiday atmosphere.
The concert aims to create a warm, family-friendly environment, allowing audiences to embrace the joy of the season through music.
