According to the report, the average person in Newark takes approximately 6,603 steps daily. This figure is noteworthy, especially given the benchmark of nearly 7,000 steps set by the study. In comparison, residents of New York City lead the nation with an average of 6,947 steps per day, followed by states like California, Oregon, Washington, and Wisconsin.
The WeWard study highlights some significant disparities in walking habits. For instance, women recorded an average of 28% fewer daily steps than men. Additionally, older adults surpassed younger generations, specifically Gen Z, by an average of 15% in daily steps. This difference may be attributed to varying levels of screen time and lifestyle choices.
