Dog Days Event Invites Pets and Owners to Enjoy Nature Together
This weekend, the Fort Worth Botanical Garden will host its annual Dog Days, a two-day event dedicated to pet lovers and their dogs. Scheduled from August 5 to August 6, the event will take place during regular Garden hours, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visitors can enjoy the natural beauty of the Garden while spending quality time with their pets. Admission for humans remains standard, while an additional fee of $5 per dog applies.
To enhance the experience, the Garden will provide hydration stations for dogs throughout the campus. Members of FWBG who are dog owners will benefit from free admission, encouraging more participants to join in the festivities. Those not yet members are invited to sign up today to take part.
Guidelines for a Safe and Enjoyable Experience
To ensure a successful event and the safety of all attendees, the Garden has established specific rules and etiquette for guests and their pets. All dogs must be leashed, older than four months, and up to date on vaccinations. Dogs in heat are not permitted on the premises, and unattended vehicles with dogs inside are strictly prohibited.
Pet owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs, with waste bags provided at various locations. It is important that all waste is disposed of properly in designated trash receptacles. Additionally, dogs are not allowed inside the Rock Springs Café, the Rainforest Conservatory, or on the trams.
The Garden emphasizes the need for dogs to be well-socialized and well-behaved. In the event that a dog exhibits aggressive behavior, Garden staff reserve the right to ask the owner to leave. All guests, both human and canine, are required to stay on trails, pathways, and open lawn areas to preserve the Garden’s delicate horticultural displays.
Respecting the Garden and Each Other
Dog owners are reminded that they are fully responsible for their pets. FWBG disclaims any liability for injury or illness that may occur during the event. Guests are encouraged to ask for permission before approaching unfamiliar dogs, particularly in situations involving children. Similarly, dog owners should manage interactions between their pets and guests without dogs to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety.
Attendees are urged to leave the Garden as they found it. This includes cleaning up any treats, waste, or belongings their pets may have left behind. As always, the staff recommends that human guests wear sturdy walking shoes and take precautions against sun exposure.
With these guidelines in place, Dog Days promises to be a delightful occasion for dog lovers and their furry companions, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for nature.
