Community Mourns the Loss of Linnie (Lee) Virgil at 103
Linnie (Lee) Virgil, a beloved community member and dedicated volunteer, passed away on October 25, 2025, at the age of 103 in Marietta, Georgia. Born on March 2, 1922, in Burns, Kansas, she spent the majority of her life in Torrance, California, where she made significant contributions to local organizations.
For 16 years, Linnie devoted her time to volunteering at the Little Company of Mary Hospital, providing support and care to patients and staff alike. Additionally, she served for 10 years with Meals on Wheels, ensuring that those in need received healthy meals and companionship. Her commitment to service left a lasting impact on the community.
Linnie was preceded in death by her husband, Walt Virgil, who passed away at the age of 49 after 26 years of marriage. She is survived by her daughter, Donna Virgil, residing in Tehachapi, California, and her son and daughter-in-law, Brad and Maggie Virgil, based in Marietta, Georgia. Linnie also leaves behind three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, who will cherish her memory.
In accordance with her wishes, there will be no formal services held. Linnie requested that her ashes be released into the Pacific Ocean, symbolizing her connection to the coast she loved.
Linnie’s legacy of kindness and community service will be remembered by all who knew her. Her life exemplified dedication and compassion, inspiring those around her to give back and support one another.
