Bad Bunny Makes Grammy History; Ariana Grande, Miley Cyrus Snubbed
BREAKING: The nominees for the 2026 Grammy Awards have just been announced, and Bad Bunny is making history as the first Spanish-speaking artist to receive nominations in the three major categories: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, and Song of the Year. This groundbreaking achievement was revealed by the Recording Academy during an exciting announcement earlier today, featuring artists like Lizzo, Sam Smith, and KAROL G.
In the major categories, Bad Bunny leads alongside Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Kendrick Lamar, Lady Gaga, and Leon Thomas. For Album of the Year, nominees include Bad Bunny for his critically acclaimed work, while the Record of the Year sees him nominated for the hit single “DtMF” alongside stars like Billie Eilish and Bruno Mars. The competition is fierce, with Sabrina Carpenter and Kendrick Lamar also vying for top honors.
However, the announcement doesn’t come without controversy. Ariana Grande and Miley Cyrus faced snubs in the Best Music Film category, despite their releases of “Something Beautiful” and “Brighter Days Ahead.” While both artists received nominations—Ariana for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance for “Defying Gravity” alongside Cynthia Erivo, and Miley for Best Pop Vocal Album—their absence from the film category has raised eyebrows among fans.
Additionally, the Grammys will recognize rising talent in the music industry, with nominees for Best New Artist including Olivia Dean, Katseye, and Leon Thomas. This year also sees the introduction of new categories: Best Album Cover and Best Traditional Country Album.
For fans of Taylor Swift, there’s no need to worry about her latest album, “The Life of a Showgirl,” missing out on nominations; it did not fall within the eligibility window for this year’s awards, leaving her in the running for the 2027 Grammys.
The 2026 Grammy Awards ceremony is set to take place on February 1, 2026, in Los Angeles. As anticipation builds, music fans around the world are eager to witness these groundbreaking nominations and the performances that will follow during the awards show.
