											URGENT UPDATE: Halloween is just days away, and Connecticut residents are scrambling for last-minute costumes! A recent survey by Montana Capital reveals the top three costume stores in the state, highlighting the best places to shop for this spooky season.
According to the survey, which gathered insights from 3,011 shoppers, the Goodspeed Musicals Costume Center in East Haddam clinched the number one spot. This hidden gem, nestled within the vibrant world of Goodspeed Musicals, offers an extensive array of meticulously crafted costumes that appeal to both theater enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. The center features outfits that range from vintage elegance to playful character wear, making it a dream destination for any Halloween celebration.
Taking second place, Sophia’s Gallery in Cos Cob is praised for its unique blend of glamour and creativity. This boutique provides a curated selection of finely detailed costumes and accessories, turning any event into a stylish occasion. Customers laud the personal service and eye for style, ensuring that every costume feels uniquely crafted.
Rounding out the top three is CT Stage in Plainville, a store that combines small-town friendliness with a creative edge. With costumes suited for everything from school plays to community festivals, this shop thrives on its collaborative atmosphere. As Halloween approaches, it becomes a bustling hub for families and theater fans alike, all eager to discover standout looks.
Halloween Spending Insights: As costumes fly off the shelves, Connecticut residents are also mindful of their budgets. According to Montana Capital, a striking 65% of respondents plan to use cash or debit for their Halloween spending, while 27% will opt for credit cards. More than half, or 52%, of those surveyed indicated they will cut back this year, reflecting a shift in consumer behavior as families look for budget-friendly ways to celebrate.
In an eye-opening revelation,
“Halloween should be fun, not financially frightening,”
stated Shir Amram, COO at Montana Capital. The survey shows that while people cherish the excitement of Halloween, they are increasingly finding smarter ways to enjoy the festivities without overspending.
What about Halloween traditions? A significant 30% of respondents indicated that decorations would be the first to go if money became tight, followed closely by party expenses at 28%. Surprisingly, both candy and costumes tied at 21% each.
Despite budget constraints, many still view Halloween as a worthy indulgence. Roughly 70% of participants described it as “a small but worth-it treat.” Yet, 30%14%, have borrowed money just to participate in Halloween festivities, while 51% have recycled costumes from previous years to save on costs.
