Man Charged After Alleged DUI Crash into Home in St. George
UPDATE: A man has been charged with multiple crimes, including DUI, after allegedly stealing a car and crashing it into a home in St. George, Utah. Darwin Julius Lee, 35, faces serious allegations after the incident occurred early on October 25, 2025.
Authorities report that the crash happened at approximately 2:15 a.m. near 1200 W and 540 North. Witnesses saw Lee, wearing a green shirt and sporting long black hair, flee the scene on foot after crashing an Isuzu NQR truck into the residence.
Law enforcement officers quickly arrived on the scene, prompting a chase when Lee was spotted running toward a nearby elementary school. An officer from the St. George Police Department (SGPD) caught up with him, noting that Lee exhibited signs of intoxication, including slurred speech and blood on his mouth and clothing.
Lee has been charged with several felonies: one count of receiving or transferring a stolen vehicle, driving under the influence with prior offenses, and property damage between $1,500 and $4,999. Additional charges include being an alcohol-restricted driver and multiple counts related to failing to comply at the accident scene. Currently, he is being held without bail in the Washington County Jail.
According to court documents, Lee denied being the driver but asked officers if they could retrieve his vape from the truck. Investigators discovered an open Budweiser beer can inside the vehicle, which reportedly reeked of alcohol. Eyewitness accounts confirm that he exited the passenger side and stumbled before fleeing.
The registered owner of the truck reported that it had been parked for repairs and that Lee did not have permission to drive it. The vehicle was confirmed as stolen shortly after the incident.
Due to injuries sustained during the crash, officers opted not to conduct a field sobriety test but secured a warrant for a blood sample from Lee. His previous DUIs in 2011 and 2023 further complicate his legal situation, as he was not permitted to drive.
The St. George community is shaken by the incident, with residents expressing concern over safety following this alarming crash. As investigations continue, authorities urge citizens to remain vigilant about road safety and report any suspicious activity.
