URGENT UPDATE: Shocking new bodycam footage has been released showing police interactions with the Connecticut couple accused of murdering 11-year-old Jacqueline “Mimi” Torres. The footage, recorded on December 29, 2024, reveals disturbing details about the living conditions and family dynamics leading up to the investigation into Jacqueline’s tragic death.

The Farmington Police Department shared the footage as authorities continue to unravel the heartbreaking circumstances surrounding the case. Officers responded to multiple noise complaints at the condo shared by Karla Garcia, 29, and her boyfriend Jonatan Nanita, 30, where Jacqueline’s body was later discovered in a basement.

During the brief encounter captured on the bodycam, officers approached the couple’s condo on Wellington Drive after receiving several noise complaints between September 2024 and February 2025. The couple claimed everything was “good,” but did not mention Jacqueline, who was reported missing before her body was found on October 8, 2025, outside a boarded-up home on Clark Street in New Britain.

In the footage, Garcia admits to being pregnant and suggests that the noise complaints stemmed from her “mood swings.” The couple discussed moving to New Britain to escape the complaints, yet they did not disclose any concerns about Jacqueline, despite her tragic fate. This exchange lasted less than four minutes and has raised numerous questions about the couple’s awareness of the situation.

The release of this footage comes as arrest warrants against Garcia, Nanita, and Garcia’s sister, Jackelyn Garcia, 28, were unsealed, revealing serious charges including murder and intentional cruelty to a child. According to police, both Garcia and Nanita are accused of killing Jacqueline, while Jackelyn is charged with participating in the abuse leading up to her death.

According to court documents, Karla Garcia confessed to investigators that she believed Nanita had hidden Jacqueline’s body in their basement, which began to emit a foul odor. This gruesome revelation prompted the couple to stay with friends or in hotels to escape the smell. Neighbors reported a persistent foul odor emanating from their new residence, leading to further investigations.

Authorities opened the 40-gallon tote where Jacqueline’s body was discovered, finding her remains in a fetal position, accompanied by a laundry basket and bedding. The medical examiner noted that Jacqueline weighed only 27 pounds at the time of her death, indicating severe malnourishment.

During interviews, both Karla and Jackelyn Garcia allegedly admitted to using zip ties to restrain Jacqueline and withholding food as punishment. Karla revealed she had not fed her daughter at all in the two weeks prior to her death, raising serious alarm bells regarding the family’s treatment of the young girl.

The legal proceedings against the trio are ongoing, with all three suspects currently held on bond as the case unfolds in Torrington Superior Court. Authorities urge anyone with further information about the case to come forward.

As this case develops, the community grapples with the tragic loss of a young life and the alarming circumstances surrounding it. The implications of this case are far-reaching, sparking discussions about child welfare and the responsibilities of neighbors and authorities in safeguarding vulnerable children.

Stay tuned for more updates as this story continues to evolve, and for those following Jacqueline’s story, the need for justice remains paramount.
