As 2026 unfolds, the music landscape is gearing up for an exciting year with a lineup of highly anticipated albums. Following a dynamic 2025 that included the loss of iconic artists like Ozzy Osbourne and Brian Wilson, as well as record-setting tours and the release of a new album from Taylor Swift, attention shifts to fresh releases that promise to captivate audiences.
Several artists have already announced new albums, each generating buzz with varying degrees of detail. Here’s a look at some of the most exciting projects set for release in the coming months.
Upcoming Releases
Alter Bridge is set to release their eighth studio album, simply titled “Alter Bridge,” on January 9. The hard rock quartet, featuring members from Creed and Myles Kennedy, embarks on a familiar high-energy journey, building on the success of their previous album, “Pawns & Kings.”
On the same day, Zach Bryan will unveil “With Heaven On Top,” his sixth album. While details are scarce, it is expected to showcase tracks he has released since his acclaimed 2024 album, “The Great American Bar Scene.”
A$AP Rocky makes a long-awaited return with “Don’t Be Dumb,” scheduled for release on January 16. This album marks his fourth studio effort and features an impressive lineup of collaborators, including Pharrell Williams and Danny Elfman. Following a lengthy hiatus, Rocky is also set to perform as the musical guest on January 17 during an episode of NBC’s “Saturday Night Live.”
Also on January 16, Langhorne Slim will release “The Dreamin’ Kind,” produced by Sam F. Kiszka of Greta Van Fleet. This album is anticipated to offer a more robust rock sound compared to his prior works.
On January 23, Megadeth will launch their 17th studio album, which frontman Dave Mustaine has indicated will be their last due to his ongoing battle with Dupuytren’s contracture. The album has already generated excitement with singles like “Tipping Point” and “Let There Be Shred.”
Country legend Vince Gill will continue his monthly EP releases with “50 Years From Home” Parts 4-12, celebrating his enduring career that includes a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Country Music Association.
Moving into February, Nick Jonas will release his fifth solo album, “Sunday Best,” on February 6. This album, announced during the Jonas Brothers’ 20th anniversary tour, is inspired by his experiences as a husband and father.
The following week, on February 13, Charli XCX will debut “Wuthering Heights,” a soundtrack for Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of the classic Emily Brontë novel. The album includes collaborations with prominent artists such as John Cale.
Also on February 13, Mumford & Sons will release “Prizefighter,” featuring collaborations with Hozier and Chris Stapleton. This will be their sixth studio album, following “Rushmere.”
The Los Angeles-based band Mariachi El Bronx returns with their first album in 12 years, “Mariachi El Bronx IV,” also on February 13.
Following these releases, Gorillaz will present “The Mountain” on February 27, showcasing their signature eclectic style with contributions from various posthumous guest artists.
On March 6, Squeeze will release “Trixies,” their first album in nine years, featuring songs written by band members in their youth.
Another noteworthy release is Joe Jackson’s “Hope and Fury,” which is scheduled for April 10. Described as a blend of his previous works, this album is expected to highlight Jackson’s distinctive rock sound.
Exciting Expectations from BTS and Others
While the global sensation BTS has been focused on solo projects due to members’ military service, group leader RM has hinted that new music is on the horizon, with a promise that it “is really coming out great.” Their return follows an incredibly successful year for K-pop, particularly with the dominance of “KPop Demon Hunters.”
Adding to the anticipation, the original lineup of 4 Non Blondes is expected to release their first album since 1992 under 670 Records/Kill Rock Stars. Alongside this, Linda Perry will also debut a solo album titled “Let It Die Here.”
In the realm of alternative music, Nine Inch Nails is working on new material, with frontman Trent Reznor expressing enthusiasm for their next album, which will be their first since 2020.
Finally, The Rolling Stones have confirmed the completion of recording for a follow-up to their 2023 Grammy Award-winning album, “Hackney Diamonds.” The band’s plans for a tour are currently on hold, suggesting a potential release of this new album sooner than expected.
With a packed schedule of anticipated releases, 2026 promises to be a vibrant year for music lovers worldwide, filled with fresh sounds and the return of beloved artists.
