Urgent: NoBo Library Closed, Alarm Rings as Bookworms Sneak In
UPDATE: The NoBo branch of the Boulder Public Library is closed this morning, yet a group of determined bookworms managed to sneak inside despite the ongoing alarm. This unusual situation unfolded at approximately 9:20 a.m. today, November 1, 2023, at 4500 13th St.
Officials from the Boulder Public Library confirmed that three branches, including NoBo, are closed until noon today for scheduled staff training. However, customers were found inside the NoBo branch, raising questions about how they gained access as no library staff or security personnel were present at the time.
Boulder Police Department Sgt. Steve Saber reported that police were alerted to the situation but were unsure how the individuals entered the facility. “This is an unexpected scenario,” Saber stated. “We are currently investigating how people got in while the alarm was activated.”
Library officials are actively working to resolve the situation. Facilities personnel are en route to the NoBo Library to assess the scene and ensure the safety of the premises. The alarm continues to sound as police secure the area.
This developing story highlights the commitment of local residents to their community’s resources, even in unexpected circumstances. The incident serves as a reminder of the importance of library access while also raising concerns about security protocols.
Authorities advise the public to stay clear of the NoBo branch until further updates are provided. The library system will likely release additional information as it becomes available, so stay tuned for the latest developments on this unusual library saga.
As the investigation unfolds, the Boulder community is encouraged to share their thoughts and experiences regarding this incident. What would you do to access your favorite books if faced with a similar situation? Join the conversation on social media.
