Dolphins’ Frank Smith Moves to Sideline, Sparks Offense to Victory
UPDATE: The Miami Dolphins have made a game-changing decision by moving offensive coordinator Frank Smith from the booth to the sideline, resulting in a dominant 34-10 victory over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. This strategic shift has energized the offense as they prepare for their next matchup.
With a closer connection to players during the game, Smith shared insights on the shift, revealing he received a text from injured tight end Darren Waller, saying, “I guess they saw the real you.” Smith concluded that his presence on the field would enhance communication and clarity for the team. “It was a lot of fun,” he noted. “I’m glad I could help the football team win.”
In addition to Smith’s sideline presence, the Dolphins implemented several key changes, including Tua Tagovailoa wearing a visor to protect his swollen eye. Smith also praised the addition of Daniel Brunskill as a sixth offensive lineman, underscoring his adaptability and veteran leadership.
The injury report adds urgency as outside linebacker Bradley Chubb confirmed he will be ready for the Thursday night game despite shoulder and foot issues. “I’ll be good,” Chubb stated, emphasizing the importance of quick recovery on a short week.
Meanwhile, Lamar Jackson, the Ravens quarterback, is trending toward a return after a month-long absence due to a hamstring injury, raising excitement ahead of his homecoming in South Florida on Thursday. Jackson expressed eagerness, stating, “Can’t wait to touch the grass with my guys.”
The Dolphins also announced that cornerback Storm Duck has been placed on injured reserve, opening a roster spot that could go to rookie nickel cornerback Jason Marshall Jr., pending activation from IR. The team is making swift adjustments, including placing Kendall Sheffield on the practice squad injured list, while welcoming back undrafted rookie Ethan Robinson.
In quarterback developments, rookie Quinn Ewers briefly held the backup position before veteran Zach Wilson reclaimed the No. 2 role against the Falcons. Head coach Mike McDaniel confirmed the decision, stating, “Until competition proves otherwise, Zach will be the No. 2.”
As the Dolphins continue to adapt and overcome challenges, fans are eagerly anticipating how these changes will impact their upcoming games. The combination of Smith’s sideline strategy and the resilience of players like Chubb promises an exciting atmosphere as Miami heads into a crucial stretch of the season.
