Drew McIntyre’s WWE Contract Extended Until WrestleMania 2028
Drew McIntyre, a prominent figure in the WWE, is set to remain with the organization until at least WrestleMania 2028. This development comes after the wrestler re-signed with WWE last year, solidifying his position as a main-event star since his return. According to a report from Fightful Select, McIntyre’s future with the Stamford-based promotion is secure for the foreseeable future.
Recently, former WWE writer Vince Russo suggested that McIntyre consider a role with Juggalo Championship Wrestling (JCW) once his contract expires. However, it appears that this move will not be happening anytime soon. McIntyre has previously expressed a desire to work with JCW during his independent wrestling days, a goal that ultimately did not materialize.
In his most recent match, McIntyre faced Cody Rhodes for the World Championship on the November 1, 2023 edition of Saturday Night’s Main Event but was unable to secure a victory. This match further highlights McIntyre’s ongoing prominence within WWE, despite the setback.
Dreaming of WrestleMania in Scotland
In a recent interview with SportBible, McIntyre shared his aspiration to host a future WrestleMania in his home country of Scotland. He has been vocal about this dream since 2019, particularly during the lead-up to the Royal Rumble 2020, where he won the event. McIntyre envisions parading the championship title through the UK, stating, “I’m going to win the title, get an open top bus, parade it around the UK as the only ever British champion.”
He elaborated on the potential venues, suggesting that Murrayfield could serve as a fitting location for the event. “We can have WrestleMania at Murrayfield, and everyone would travel, not just from in the UK,” he said. McIntyre expressed excitement about showcasing Scotland’s scenery, stating, “I cannot wait to do media on top of Edinburgh Castle or something. Head to some of the football games, a few Rangers games.”
The vision McIntyre has for bringing WrestleMania to Scotland reflects not only his personal ambitions but also the potential for significant tourism and excitement surrounding such an event. With an enthusiastic fan base and rich cultural heritage, Scotland could provide a unique backdrop for WWE’s flagship event.
As McIntyre continues his journey in WWE, fans eagerly anticipate his next moves, both in the ring and potentially on the international stage. The prospect of WrestleMania being hosted in Scotland remains a tantalizing dream for McIntyre and his supporters alike.
