Oneida County Unofficial Election Results Show Strong Republican Support

Unofficial results from the November 7, 2023, elections reveal significant victories for Republican candidates across various districts in Oneida County. The election results indicate a strong preference for Republican candidates among voters, particularly in key legislative races.

Legislative Outcomes

In District 1, incumbent legislator Keith Schiebel secured an impressive 98.28% of the votes, totaling 1,028 ballots cast in his favor. Meanwhile, in District 7, Richard J. Duesler Jr. of the Democratic/Working Families Party garnered 38.01% of the votes, with a total of 723 votes, compared to his opponent, Stewart Rood, who achieved 61.78% with 1,175 votes.

In District 12, Kenneth White also represented the Republican/Conservative party, winning with 55.80% of the votes, amounting to 721 votes, while his opponent, Stephen Hampe, received 44.04% with 569 votes.

City Council Results

The results for the Rome City Council were similarly dominated by Republican candidates. In District 1, John M. Sparace secured 97.14% of the votes with 238 votes. District 2 saw John B. Mortise achieving 96.52% of the vote, totaling 194 ballots.

In a more closely contested race, District 3 featured Sheri LaGreco-Bryant from the Democratic/Working Families party receiving 46.78% of the votes, while her Republican opponent, Linda J. Fazio, won with 53.22% of the votes, totaling 215.

District 4 had a competitive outcome, where Ramona L. Smith gained 51.12% of the votes, while Richard A. Andrews from the Republican/Neighbors party received 48.68%. The results in District 5 showcased a significant lead for Michael D. Brown of the Democratic/Working Families party, who received 40.52% of the votes against John Reilly, who won with 52.03%.

The town of Vernon witnessed notable results as well, where Duane Munger was elected as the Town Assessor with a remarkable 99.31% of the votes, totaling 869. Similarly, Scott Musacchio and Amy Kotwica, both from the Republican/Conservative party, achieved 98.06% and 98.73% of the votes for the positions of Town Supervisor and Town Clerk/Tax Collector, respectively.
