The inaugural Cupid Kannapolis event is set to invigorate downtown Kannapolis from February 7 to 15, 2024, by promoting local shopping and dining deals. This initiative brings together various businesses in the city center to create a festive atmosphere for Valentine’s Day. Former Downtown Kannapolis president and employee at Falls Jewelers, Caleb Falls, played a pivotal role in coordinating this event, aiming to enhance community involvement in local business initiatives.

Participating restaurants like West Loop Local and Towel City Tavern are offering enticing specials. West Loop Local will feature a champagne and charcuterie deal priced at $16 on February 13. Meanwhile, Towel City Tavern is presenting a romantic dinner for two at $90, which includes an appetizer, two main courses, a dessert, and a bottle of wine. In addition, Eat Cakes bakery is preparing a selection of Valentine’s treats, including chocolate-covered strawberries and heart-shaped cakes.

The local boutiques, Sweetest Beginnings and Once in a Blue Moon, are also participating in the Valentine festivities. Sweetest Beginnings is offering customers the chance to scratch off conversation hearts for discounts, along with a 15 percent discount on all Valentine-themed items. Once in a Blue Moon is promoting a buy-one-get-one half-off deal on all mixed metal earrings.

In a show of community spirit, the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers are providing 15 percent off all red merchandise purchased in their store. Even pets are included in the celebration, as Carolina Groom Room is offering complimentary Valentine bows and bandanas for dogs groomed during the event period.

Beyond retail offers, several local businesses are providing unique experiences. SoFul West Avenue is offering a free class to first-time visitors who accompany a member until February 15. Additionally, Falls Jewelers is offering a free 30-minute massage with purchases over $300, and a date night at Towel City Tavern for purchases exceeding $600.

Falls emphasized the significance of collaborative business events, stating, “It’s a huge help when we have a business that we want to participate and coordinate with.” The event is designed not only to stimulate local commerce but also to strengthen community ties.

Several special events are scheduled throughout the Cupid Kannapolis celebration. On February 7, a Galentine’s Shop Hop will take place from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m., featuring local vendors on Main Street. Southern Collective will host cocktail tastings and complimentary chair massages during this event. Furthermore, on February 14, West Loop Local will host a DJ from 20:00 to 00:00 to add to the holiday festivities. The Swanee Theatre will feature a performance by the Swinging Medallions on February 13 at 20:00, with two free tickets available through a giveaway on their social media platforms.

Falls underscored the importance of this event, particularly following a challenging winter season for local businesses. “It’s a big group for sure. When one person succeeds, we all succeed,” he remarked, highlighting the unified effort to support the local economy during this festive period. The Cupid Kannapolis event promises to foster community spirit and encourage residents to engage with local businesses.
