Fort Worth Pediatrician Launches Book on Parenting Insights
Dr. Diane Arnaout, a pediatrician based in Fort Worth, Texas, is set to release her first book, titled “Hiccups: A Pediatrician Mom’s Guide to Surviving Your First Year of Parenthood,” on April 2, 2026. After spending a decade providing parental guidance online, Arnaout aims to distill her expertise into a more permanent format for caregivers navigating the challenges of early parenthood.
Over the years, Arnaout has built a robust presence on social media, where her candid posts about childhood illnesses and parenting issues have resonated with audiences globally, from local families in Tarrant County to followers in places like Indonesia. “I started just being very honest and writing about what I was doing with my own kids, the data I had read, and the numbers I knew,” she explained. This authentic approach has not only garnered significant attention but also highlighted common misconceptions among parents regarding childhood health.
The motivation behind her book stems not only from a desire for a lasting resource but also from a commitment to offer parents an alternative to traditional parenting guides. According to Arnaout, social media can sometimes feel chaotic, which is why she sought to create a structured, easy-to-navigate guide. The result is a 300-page book designed to be user-friendly, encouraging readers to consult it as needed rather than reading it sequentially. “Don’t read this book cover to cover. Jump in and jump out whenever you need it,” she advises.
Conversational Style and Unique Structure
In her book, Arnaout employs a conversational tone, reminiscent of her online persona. Sections are titled with engaging and relatable phrases, including “Breastfeeding is a real bitch” and “Sleep is for the weak — most babies.” This informal approach aims to create a friendly dialogue with readers, making the material more approachable.
Instead of lengthy paragraphs typical of many parenting books, Arnaout adopts a question-and-answer format to present her advice. This method allows parents to quickly find relevant information, making it easier for them to address their concerns. “I hope it helps someone somewhere,” she expressed. “I think it will.”
Arnaout’s dedication to her children, Jack and Abby, is evident in the book, which is dedicated to them. In a heartfelt acknowledgment, she notes, “You’ve taught me more than any book ever could, and I love you.”
Future Projects and Expanding Reach
Following the release of “Hiccups,” Arnaout is not resting on her laurels. Her publisher, Bloomsbury Academic, has already contracted her for a second book titled “Tumbles,” which will focus on parenting children aged one to three. Arnaout also plans to write additional books covering school-age children and teenagers, aiming to provide comprehensive support throughout the entirety of a child’s upbringing.
Dr. Arnaout’s journey from local pediatrician to published author reflects her commitment to supporting parents with trustworthy, accessible information. As she prepares for the launch of her book, her hope remains clear: to alleviate the confusion and frustration that many parents face, offering them guidance that is both practical and reassuring.
By sharing her knowledge and experiences, Dr. Diane Arnaout is poised to make a meaningful impact on the parenting community, one book at a time.
