Diane Snider Elected as Mayfield Heights Mayor with 77.7% Vote

Diane Marzano Snider has been elected as the new mayor of Mayfield Heights, Ohio, securing an impressive 77.7 percent of the vote in the recent election held on November 4, 2023. Snider, who currently serves as the City Council president, garnered 2,463 votes, decisively defeating former council member Gayle Teresi, who received 707 votes.

Her predecessor, Anthony DiCicco, who has served as mayor for 12 years, was unable to seek re-election due to the city’s three-term limit. Snider aims to ensure a smooth transition of leadership, working closely with DiCicco to maintain continuity for residents. “I look forward to working alongside our current mayor to make this handoff seamless and productive for our residents,” she said.

Diane Snider has a long history with Mayfield Heights, having served on the City Council from 2002 to 2014 before reaching her term limit. After a two-year hiatus, she returned to the council and was re-elected three times. With two years remaining on her current term, the council will be tasked with selecting a replacement in January.

In the recent council election, Jessica Finney Brown, the daughter of the late former councilwoman Donna Finney, emerged as the top vote-getter with 1,809 votes. Other candidates included first-time candidates Joseph Brunello with 1,582 votes and Michael Buffa with 1,475 votes. Current council member Matthew Metyk received 1,141 votes. Metyk was appointed to the council in Fall 2024 to fill the vacancy left by Robert DeJohn, who resigned.
