Redmond Spa Offers Relief to Gift Card Holders After Spa W Closure
The unexpected closure of Spa W in Bend, Oregon, has left many gift card holders without options for treatment. After 27 years of service, the spa closed its doors earlier this month, prompting Lattanzi Spa in nearby Redmond to step in and support affected customers.
Brianna Lattanzi, a former employee of Spa W, announced that her spa will honor the value of any Spa W gift cards. Customers can make appointments by calling Lattanzi Spa, where Lattanzi intends to provide full value for each gift card presented. “I don’t know what is going on, but for someone to not get their full gift card value is not right,” she stated.
According to a message posted on Spa W’s website, the closure was due to “economic hardships faced in recent years,” which included rising costs and the pandemic’s lasting impact. The spa, owned by Rebecca Abraham, has not yet been able to provide a statement regarding the situation.
The Oregon Department of Justice’s Consumer Protection division advises consumers to verify gift card legitimacy and balances before making purchases. It is crucial for customers to keep receipts and be cautious of online transactions, particularly on auction sites. Marta Hanson, a spokesperson for the Office of the Attorney General, emphasized that in Oregon, gift cards cannot have expiration dates except under specific circumstances.
Community Response to Spa W’s Closure
The Bend Chamber of Commerce expressed its sorrow over the sudden closure of Spa W, noting its long-standing role in the community. Sara Odendahl, interim CEO of the Chamber, remarked, “Spa W’s sudden closure is a loss for our community. We know many customers are left with questions, especially about unused gift cards.” She encouraged customers to contact Spa W directly for further information.
Lattanzi’s decision to honor Spa W gift cards reflects a commitment to community support. “The gift of living is giving,” she said. “When I give back, it’s not about the money. I think there’s a lot of gift cards out there unused… there’s a bit of risk for me here, but for those that had a balance, it is the right thing to do.”
As gift card holders seek alternatives following the closure of Spa W, Lattanzi Spa stands as a beacon of hope, ensuring that the value of these cards does not go to waste.
