Molly Ratermann’s Horror Comedy ‘Making a Bridesmaid’ Wraps Post
UPDATE: Molly Ratermann’s highly anticipated horror-comedy, “Making a Bridesmaid,” has officially wrapped post-production, with plans for a festival run in 2026. This film is set to shake up the genre with its unique blend of comedy and horror, resonating with audiences worldwide.
Filmed in the picturesque setting of Lake Tahoe, California, “Making a Bridesmaid” juxtaposes the pressures women face in a competitive environment against a backdrop of a terrifying murder game. The film follows two outcast sisters, portrayed by Emily Kincaid and Ratermann herself, as they navigate a “basic bitch” bachelorette weekend that quickly spirals out of control.
The tone has been likened to a thrilling combination of “Bodies Bodies Bodies” and “Bridesmaids,” offering a satirical yet heartfelt exploration of rivalry and identity among women. Ratermann, who not only directs but also produces and stars in the film, aims for the story to resonate deeply with viewers, providing both laughter and poignant moments of reflection.
The ensemble cast also features notable talents such as Serra Naiman, Wilder Yari, Alex Sgambati, Gina Su, Maya Butler, April Kelley, and Cynthia Aileen Strahan. Ratermann’s creative team includes Sabrina Plisco, President of American Cinema Editors (ACE), who takes on editing duties while debuting as a producer. Cinematography is handled by David Newbert, known for his work on “Willy’s Wonderland.”
Ratermann expressed her vision for the film, stating,
“‘Making A Bridesmaid’ is a wild, fun ride that digs into fakeness, identity, and rivalry, even as women keep reaching for solidarity.”
She hopes to spark curiosity in men about the intricacies of female socialization while providing a relatable experience for women.
With the film now picture-locked, details regarding its premiere and sales representation will be announced soon. The buzz surrounding “Making a Bridesmaid” is already building, making it a must-watch in the upcoming festival circuit.
Stay tuned for more updates on this thrilling project that promises to redefine the comedy-horror genre.
