The New England Patriots have made strategic moves ahead of Super Bowl LX, elevating running back D’Ernest Johnson and defensive tackle Leonard Taylor III from their practice squad to the active game day roster. This decision, announced on Saturday, reflects the team’s preparations for their matchup against the Seattle Seahawks on February 11, 2024.

This marks the third consecutive playoff game that Johnson has been promoted from the practice squad. He will provide additional depth behind starting running backs Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson. Johnson’s experience and performance in previous games make him a valuable asset as the Patriots aim for their first championship title since the 2018 season.

Taylor’s elevation is significant, as he has been promoted for the fourth straight postseason game. He notably blocked a crucial field goal attempt late in the fourth quarter during the Patriots’ recent AFC Championship Game victory over the Denver Broncos. Taylor will bolster the defensive line, contributing depth behind key players including Milton Williams, Christian Barmore, Khyiris Tonga, and Cory Durden.

As preparation continues, the Patriots must make seven players inactive for Sunday’s game. These roster decisions will be critical in determining their chances against the Seahawks, who have also made adjustments by elevating running backs Cam Akers and Velus Jones Jr. from their practice squad.

With the Super Bowl just days away, the Patriots are focused on optimizing their roster to enhance their performance on the biggest stage in American football. The addition of Johnson and Taylor underscores the team’s commitment to fielding the strongest lineup possible as they pursue victory in Super Bowl LX.
