Residents and travelers in St. Charles Parish are currently facing significant disruptions to traffic flow due to road closures and ongoing construction activities. A major route, Hwy 628 (CC Road), has been closed from the KCS railroad to Hwy 61 since January 26 for sheet pile driving work. This closure is expected to last until March 13. Alternative routes have been designated for haul trucks, Cembell Industries, and residents of Vickers Lane, who are advised to use either Spillway Road or River Road.

In addition to the closure on Hwy 628, further disruptions are affecting traffic in Destrehan. Jonathan Street remains closed until further notice, with emergency traffic being rerouted via Bunge’s heavy haul road. In New Sarpy, Short Street experienced a temporary block from St. Charles Street to Terrace Street for drainage work, which is expected to complicate transit for emergency vehicles and public transportation until 15:00 on February 4.

Ongoing Construction and Traffic Adjustments

Motorists are also encountering challenges on Ormond Center Court in Destrehan, which is obstructed from 150 Ormond Center Court to 3001 Ormond Blvd due to construction. A detour is currently in place to facilitate passage. Additionally, LA 3127 is subject to intermittent and alternating lane closures between the St. James Parish line and the St. Charles Parish line, scheduled from November 3, 2025, through October 30, 2026. These closures will affect traffic during the hours of 06:00 to 18:00 as crews work on drainage structures and perform asphalt milling and overlay.

Utility work has prompted additional lane closures on both LA 3127 and LA 3160, with single lane and shoulder closures occurring from December 6, 2025, through February 27, 2026. Specific hours for these disruptions will be announced for both weekdays and weekends. Moreover, asphalt patching operations will require recurring single lane closures on LA 3127 from February 2 to February 6, and on US 61 (Airline Drive) from February 4 at 17:30 until February 6 at 06:00.

These multiple road closures and construction activities are expected to significantly impact traffic throughout St. Charles Parish, necessitating careful planning for commuters and emergency services alike. Detailed information is available on the St. Charles Parish official website, where residents are encouraged to stay updated on the latest traffic advisories and construction schedules.
