Two Men Attacked in East Oakland Robbery; One Shot, One Pistol Whipped

UPDATE: A shocking robbery in East Oakland late Wednesday night has left one man shot and another brutally pistol whipped. The incident unfolded around 11:20 p.m. in the 1400 block of 81st Avenue, near International Boulevard, as the victims sat in their parked vehicle.

Both victims, who are 37 years old and residents of the area, were targeted while sitting inside their car. Authorities report that two masked men approached them, with one brandishing a gun. The driver was quickly pistol whipped and robbed of his wallet, which contained cash and personal items.

As he attempted to resist the robbery, the assailants escalated the violence: one suspect fired at him, but the bullet missed and struck his companion in the shoulder. Both men were rushed to nearby hospitals, but their current conditions remain unknown.

The suspects fled the scene in a vehicle believed to be a Lexus, heading eastbound on International Boulevard. Police have yet to release detailed descriptions of the attackers or the getaway car.
