Popular Zombie Film “Train to Busan” Joins Peacock’s Lineup
The acclaimed zombie film Train to Busan is set to begin streaming on Peacock starting February 11, 2026. This South Korean blockbuster gained significant attention upon its release in 2016 and has since become a staple in the horror genre. Its arrival on the streaming platform adds to the growing list of titles available to subscribers.
A Brief History of the Film
Directed by Yeon Sang-ho and based on a screenplay by Park Joo-suk, Train to Busan first premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on May 13, 2016. Following its Cannes debut, the film was released in South Korean theaters on July 20, where it quickly shattered records, becoming the first Korean film to attract over 10 million viewers.
Grossing approximately $98.5 million globally against a modest budget of $8.5 million, the film’s impressive box office performance spawned a franchise that includes the animated prequel Seoul Station and the standalone sequel Peninsula. Future expansions of the franchise are anticipated with a new follow-up film and an American remake titled The Last Train to New York.

Critics and audiences alike have praised Train to Busan, with a remarkable 95% certified fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes and an audience score of 89%. Additionally, the film has a solid Metascore of 73 on Metacritic, indicating a generally favorable perception among viewers.
The film’s gripping narrative unfolds on a KTX train traveling from Seoul to Busan, where passengers are unexpectedly thrust into a zombie apocalypse. The plot centers on a father and daughter, played by Gong Yoo and Kim Su-an, as they navigate the chaos and confront both external threats and internal conflicts among the passengers.
Alongside Gong Yoo, the film features a talented cast including Jung Yu-mi, Ma Dong-seok, Kim Eui-sung, Choi Woo-sik, and Sohee. Its unique blend of horror and emotional depth has resonated with viewers, establishing it as a modern classic in the zombie genre.
