Robert Irwin and Witney Carson have developed a remarkable friendship since they became partners on the popular television show, Dancing With the Stars. Their bond is set to be showcased during the “Wicked Night” episode on October 21, 2023, where they will perform a jazz routine to “Dancing Through Life.” This partnership has proven to be transformative for both individuals.

Robert, the son of the late wildlife conservationist Steve Irwin, recalls a feeling of inevitability about being paired with Witney. He remembers discussing this possibility with his family, particularly when his sister, Bindi Irwin, won the competition in 2015. “As a family, we would always kind of talk about, ‘I bet I’d end up getting partnered with Witney,'” he shared in an episode of The Viall Files on October 15. When they were officially matched, Robert felt it was a “full-circle moment.”

Reflecting on their journey together, Robert noted, “This is 10 years in the making. Here we are.” He expressed a deep sense of trust in Witney, describing her as an older sister figure who has provided him with guidance throughout the competition. Their team, dubbed “Team IrWINit,” has impressively scored high marks from judges Derek Hough, Carrie Ann Inaba, and Bruno Tonioli in the early weeks of the show.

Robert has credited Witney with boosting his confidence, stating, “All of my confidence comes from Witney.” He emphasized the importance of trusting the process and relying on each other during rehearsals. “This whole thing is the ultimate trust fall,” he added, showcasing his commitment to the competition.

Despite facing challenges, including a recent drop in standings, Robert and Witney have remained determined. “We’ve started at the top of the leader board. We’ve come down to third place,” he mentioned during Disney Night on October 7. Their commitment to personal growth is evident, as both have pushed each other outside their comfort zones, including Robert’s adventurous decision to introduce Witney to an alligator during week three.

Witney, a mother of two, has also taken on the role of a protective figure in Robert’s life, particularly regarding his dating life. “You have to go through a screening process,” she jokingly told E! News in September, referencing her method of vetting potential suitors for Robert. “Submit your applications through my DMs, and then I will forward them to Bindi.”

The support between Robert and Witney extends beyond their performances. This was particularly evident during Robert’s Dedication Night dance, where he honored his mother, Terri Irwin. The emotional performance moved him to tears as he expressed how his mother had supported him since the tragic passing of his father in 2006. “It’s been such a hard week for so many reasons,” Robert stated in an interview with E! News on October 14. He credited Witney’s choreography and personal support as vital to his ability to express these emotions publicly.

As they continue their journey on Dancing With the Stars, it is clear that the connection between Robert Irwin and Witney Carson has resonated with fans, making it evident that they have formed a lasting bond. Robert encapsulated this sentiment perfectly, saying, “We have a new adopted member of the Irwin family now.”

As the season progresses, audiences will eagerly anticipate their performances and the continued evolution of their friendship.
