Nova Launcher Releases Exciting New Build Amid Community Support
A new build of Nova Launcher, version 8.1.3, has been released, featuring significant updates and enhancements. This development comes after the original founder and developer of Nova Launcher stepped away from the project in September, leading to concerns within the Android community. Despite this setback, a dedicated Discord channel has remained active, fostering a supportive environment for users and developers alike.
The recent update includes a variety of new features aimed at improving user experience. Although this build is not yet available through the official Nova Launcher website, it is set to be rolled out on Google Play. According to the announcement made alongside the APK file, most of the changes were developed by the original team over a year ago.
New Features in Version 8.1.3
The most notable updates in version 8.1.3 focus on enhancing the Nova Now experience and the Cards section. The Media Card has undergone a complete redesign, offering a cleaner interface and improved controls. Users can now pin shortcuts directly into their Cards, allowing for greater customization. Additionally, Cards can now be dismissed, providing users with the ability to tailor their feeds to suit their individual preferences.
A new Weather Card has been introduced, enabling users to access the latest forecasts conveniently. The Calendar Card has also received an update to enhance usability, ensuring that users can manage their schedules more effectively.
Further improvements include:
– **Search Bar Customization**: New options have been added, allowing users to personalize the style of the Nova Now search bar.
– **Instant Search**: A new feature will automatically display the keyboard when Nova Now is opened, facilitating quicker access to search functions.
– **Spotify Integration**: The integration with Spotify has been refined, enhancing the overall experience for music lovers.
– **Search History Saved**: Users can now save and search their web suggestions across sessions, with the option to disable this feature for those preferring privacy.
– **Android Support**: The latest version fully supports current Android updates, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance.
– **Stability Improvements**: General stability enhancements have been made throughout the application.
The community’s enthusiasm for Nova Launcher remains strong, as seen in the active engagement on Discord. Developer and community contributor Diego expressed optimism for the future of the application, stating, “Long live Nova!”
As the rollout of version 8.1.3 continues, users can look forward to a more robust and customizable launcher experience. With its roots firmly embedded in community support and collaboration, Nova Launcher appears set to thrive despite recent challenges.
