Hollywood Celebrates World Premiere of ‘Zootopia 2’ in Style
The world premiere of Disney’s highly anticipated sequel, Zootopia 2, took place on November 23, 2023, at the iconic El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood. With the area closed off to accommodate the event, fans and stars alike gathered to celebrate the return of beloved characters and the introduction of new ones.
In this sequel, Jason Bateman and Ginnifer Goodwin reprise their roles as rookie cops Nick Wilde and Judy Hopps, who navigate a new mystery within their vibrant animal metropolis. Goodwin expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I mean, I’m a Disney nut, first of all. I used to go into the Disney offices and beg them to cast me in anything. Judy is my favorite, I don’t know, because she’s mine!”
New characters join the lineup, including Gary De’Snake, voiced by Oscar winner Ke Huy Quan. Quan described his character, saying, “Even though he is a poisonous viper, when you meet him, he’s actually really friendly.” Another fresh face is Nibbles Maplestick, an energetic beaver voiced by Fortune Feimster. Feimster remarked, “I honestly can’t believe it. This is at the top, for sure.”
Returning for the sequel is Colombian pop star Shakira, who shared a special moment with her two young sons during the recording process. “We recorded our lines together because they actually have a small part in the movie as Judy Hopps’ little brothers,” she revealed. Actress Bonnie Hunt, who plays Bonnie Hopps, highlighted the significance of this project for her family, stating, “I have 19 nieces and nephews now, so I get to be a part of their childhood in a way that will last, I hope, their lifetime.”
The filmmakers expressed their excitement for audiences to experience the culmination of years of work. Co-director Byron Howard emphasized the film’s intention to entertain, saying, “We want to laugh, we want to cry, we want that Disney magic, so we really try our very hardest to get that.” Co-director Jared Bush added, “We go through a lot of different places in ‘Zootopia’ we didn’t get to see the first time.”
Producer Yvett Merino provided insight into the film’s underlying message, stating, “We are all a little different, and we all have differences. If we really just take the time to understand the differences, we would all be stronger together.”
Audiences can look forward to experiencing this heartwarming adventure when Zootopia 2 hits theaters on November 26, 2023. Disney, the parent company of ABC, continues to bring its signature storytelling to life, ensuring that the magic of Zootopia endures for a new generation.
